As CEO Chris brings a corporate finance and merchant banking background to the KellTech team where he is primarily focused on business development. Having a strong investment banking background in the metals and mining sector allows Chris to identify and introduce the Kell Process to targeted mining projects where the Kell Process can unlock latent commercial value.
Prior to KellTech, Chris was a Director and Partner with a UK based merchant bank, Hannam & Partners, (southern Africa) where he focused on the African mining sector while being based in Zimbabwe. Chris was first brought to Zimbabwe as the co-CEO of Renaissance Capital Zimbabwe where he managed the local platform and helped direct the largest potential privatization transaction in the Country’s history; the $750mln privatization of Zisco Steel to Essar Global Holdings. During this time in Zimbabwe he also developed a niche expertise in the platinum sector and advised a number of platinum mining companies on their current operations and future expansion potential.
Chris founded Africa Investor Group, an advisory and consulting company that provided bespoke and discreet investment and strategic advice to companies and investors seeking to invest in sub-Saharan African.
Before setting up on the ground in Zimbabwe Chris spent 9 years at Goldman Sachs as a Vice President in the New York office where he held various sales roles in equity & capital markets in addition to exploring for opportunities for GS across southern Africa.
Chris is also affiliated with Aldwych Capital, a boutique emerging markets investment bank based in New York, where he remains a senior advisor. In this role Chris focuses on bridging investment opportunities in Africa to U.S. based investors and companies.
Chris has an MBA from Fordham University in New York and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from Dartmouth College in New Hampshire.
